John H. Vickery, 68, of River Road, died at his home Thursday, August 6, in the safe and loving company of his family, after a brief illness. Born in N. Adams, MA, on February 17, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles and Eva Adelaide Holt Vickery.
John was also predeceased by his grandson, Michael Anthony Rochford; and brother, Charles "Ed" Vickery, Jr.
John was a longtime self-employed painter, who also worked construction for Douglas R. Dyer and Sons Construction of Mechanicville and was a salesman for Anderson-Little Clothing Co. John loved the sport of horse racing and fishing. He was a member of the Eagles Club of Saratoga.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mildred "Millie" Duffney Vickery; daughter, Donna (Michael) Rochford of Malta; grandchildren, Danielle (Jesse) Murray and Peter Rochford, all of Malta; two great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Madison Murray; sisters, Dona (Earl) McLaughlin of Plymouth, MA, and Mrs. Jacklyn Dyer of Melrose; and two brothers, Roger (Yvonne) Vickery of Mechanicville and Robert (Helen) Vickery of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Norma Vickery of Mechanicville; along with a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
