RANDOLPH - Gretchen V. Sliva died peacefully at home on Oct. 3, 2017, in Randolph, at the age of 82. Gretchen was born on April 20, 1935, in Augusta.
She graduated from Cony High School and the University of Maine in Orono. She spent her years substitute teaching in various schools and was the Randolph Town Clerk for many years. She also worked for the State of Maine at various times. Gretchen loved spending time at the family camp on Schoodic Lake. She loved boating and fishing. Unfortunately, her advanced COPD made that difficult in the last few years. Her message to everyone was "Don't smoke!"
She was predeceased by her loving husband, John, in 2015; and her beloved daughter, Toni Lynn, in 1980.
Gretchen is survived by her loving son, John Scott Sliva, and his wife Sharon; grandson, John Sliva, his wife Charity, and their daughter Leona (Lea); and grandson, Matthew Sliva, and his fiancée Emily Nason.
Gretchen had a great love and devotion to her family and they brought her great joy.
