Funeral for Jefferson Conway Mowry Jr., 75, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Jim McGuire, chaplain of Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma, officiating. Mr. Mowry died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at his home.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born July 2, 1931, in San Diego, to Jefferson Conway Mowry Sr. and Emma Francis Merriman Mowry. He lived for a while in Lincoln, Neb. He married Margaret Haskell on April 1, 1950, in Papillion, Neb. They moved to Lawton in 1976, where he remained until his death. He worked at Cameron University and Walmart as a janitor and had worked for several other janitorial businesses in Lawton until his retirement. His wife died Feb. 22, 2003.
Survivors include five sons and three daughters-in-law: Donald Mowry, Scott Mowry, and Jeffery and Sabine Mowry; all of Lawton; Patrick and Charity Mowry, Ridgeville, Ind.; and Kevin and Shirley Mowry, Sterns, Ky.; three daughters, and sons-in-law: Connie Newcombe and Dennis Sauer, and Joy and Roger Veazey, all of Lawton; and Kelly and Johnny Delgado, Lubbock, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Carol Mowry, Lincoln, Neb.; a sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Clarence Wilson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren: Anthony, Timothy, Laura, Christopher and his wife, Michelle, Robin, Calin, Justin, Brandy, Heather, Dylan, Johnny, and Angel; four great-grandchildren: Bailey Jackson, Harleigh Mayle, Hannah Mayle, Brooklyn Mayle and Benjamin Willis.
He was preceded in death by his father, his parents, Emma Francis and John Totman; a son, Jefferson Conway Mowry III, a daughter, Laura Lea; and a grandson, Kelly Eugene Willis.
