FITZGERALD, Jean Rodegerdts - Beloved wife of James Vincent Fitzgerald Jr., passed away peacefully at home October 12, 2005.
She was the loving mother of James V. Fitzgerald III, Christopher S. Fitzgerald and Susan L. Fitzgerald; loving grandmother to Jordan Fitzgerald; and beloved sister to Patricia Fournier and Joyce Bouquet.
Jean was born November 17, 1920, in Washington, D.C., and at an early age her parents moved the family to the San Francisco Marina District. She had a wonderful childhood, and in her early teens met her future husband, James. They were to spend the next 70 years together in bliss, mated for life. Jean attended Galileo High School and the University of California, Berkeley.
After marrying James on April 11, 1942, they had three children. Throughout James' extensive political career, which included 20 years on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, Jean was always by his side, providing her complete support. Jean was a member of the Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years. She loved to play bridge, cook and was an avid SF 49ers and Giants fan. On game days, she would have her team's sweat-shirt on, along with her lucky earrings. She will be greatly missed.
