TOGUS - Windsor Haskell, 87, of Waterville, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Togus. He was born in Deer Isle on Dec. 18, 1922, the son of Vernon and Jenny (Eaton) Haskell.
Win went to war right after school, enlisting when he was only 17. He served in World War II. Win was very passionate about his ministries as a reverend. He preached at congregational churches around the country, ending in Waterville. Along with being a reverend, he enjoyed making toys and clocks in his woodworking shop, reading, spending time with his grandkids, and in his later years, loved bonding with the nurses at Togus and telling them stories.
Win is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Althea Haskell; his five daughters, Althea Haskell of Oakland, Jenny Sagar and her husband, Doug, of Hampton Beach, N.H., April Tuttle and her husband, Jeff, of Waterville, Hope Haskell of Waterville and Faith Haskell of Waterville; two nieces that he raised, Barbara Hasty and Donna Chesner; three grandchildren, Rob Haskell, Isaac Tuttle and Cadance Tuttle; and two great-grandchildren Keegan and Keanna.
