C.H. Waldo president of the Commercial Bank at Republican city died very suddenly about 1:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, following a heart attack. Mr. Waldo's death came as a shock to members of his family as well as to his wide circle of friends and acquaintances throughout south west Nebr. and north central Kansas.
Born September 20, 1879 at Olin, Iowa, Mr. Waldo passed away at the Memorial Hospital in Alma June 15, 1955. He suffered the fatal attack at his home in Republican City and was rushed to the hospital where death followed a few moments after his arrival.
Mr. Waldo has been associated with the Commercial Bank at Rep. city since 1915. During the past 40 years Mr. Waldo has served in various campacties with the bank and for the past number of years had served as president of this financial institution. During the years Mr. Waldo had devoted almost all of his time and energy to the successful operation of the commercial Bank. He was widely respected in banking circles and his judgement was always found to be sound and justified. Under his management the bank had enjoyed an exceedingly large volume of business.
While of recent months Mr. Waldo had not enjoyed his usual good health, never less he continued to preform his duties each day at the bank, and Tuesday,the day preceding his passing, was no exception as he reported for work and remained at the bank throughout the day, waiting on patrons and performing his usual tasks.
Mr. Waldo's death will be mourned by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed by patrons of that institution which he had been associated with for some forty years.
He was preceded in death by his wife on May 6, of this year. Surviving are his two sons, Haskell and James, both of Republican City, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, other relatives and many friends.
