  San Antonio Express-News (TX) October 17, 1991 Alfredo "Freddie" Alvarado was janitor and groundskeeper for Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for the past eight years. In previous years he worked at Birdsong Peanut Company as janitor. Alvarado, 43, died suddenly Monday of a hemorrhage suffered at home. Born in San Antonio, he attended Lanier Junior High School to the seventh grade. On Oct. 6, 1984, he and Maria Hoag were married. "He was a happy man and tried to do good for everybody," his wife said. "He liked drinking beer with his friends, but he was proud to be groundskeeper for his special church. Parishioners remember him as friendly and willing to help anyone who needed him. "My husband liked music, and he played drums at home. Once when another drummer was late, Freddie sat in with the band at a West Side market until the drummer arrived. My husband also gave advice to those with problems." Additional survivors are a son, Alfred Alvarado Jr. of San Antonio; two daughters, Christina Hoag and Connie Uviedo, both of San Antonio; his parents, Maria and Rodrigo Alvarado of San Antonio; a brother, Roy Alvarado of San Antonio; four sisters, Angie Garza, Eva Cantu and Margarita Martinez, all of San Antonio, and Olga Castillo of Chicago; and three grandchildren.
