T. Harold (Bud) Elting, age 79, of Manitou Beach, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at his home.
He was born on April 16, 1929, in Northville, the son of Theron Harold and Cecil A. (Johnson)
Elting.
He married Patricia J. Dietrich on April 16, 1949, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives.
Bud had lived in Manitou Beach since the age of 2. He graduated from Addison High School in 1947. He was employed at Tecumseh Products for 44 years, retiring in 1991. He was a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge #157. He was an avid stock car fan, winning numerous trophies and the nickname "Hot Rod" from his 25-year racing career. He enjoyed riding his tractor and working on motors.
Surviving besides his wife, Pat, are three children, Deborah Souders of Jackson, Cynthia Partee of Manitou Beach, and Timothy (Kyle) Elting of Ypsilanti; six grandchildren, Laurie Souders of Jackson, Robert Souders of Jackson, Shandy (Kristy) Partee of Napoleon, Amber (Nathan) Kapnick of Manitou Beach, Jessie Elting of Ypsilanti and James Elting of Ypsilanti; four great-grandchildren, Robert II, Skyler, Leland and Sutton; one sister, Margaret Roberts of Manitou Beach; and four nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; son-in-law Robert Souders; and brothers, Keith, George and Lane.
