  The Argus-Press (Owosso, MI) February 24, 2010 Ernest George Grant, 86 years old, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010. He was born in Bancroft to Ernest L. and Julia (Heath) Grant. He graduated from Durand High School in 1941 and was a member of the U.S. Army. George graduated from Michigan State University in 1949. George married the "love of his life," Joan Bradley, in 1947. For nearly 63 years, he was a devoted and loving husband. He was a teacher and coach in North Branch and Morrice Schools before successfully entering the insurance business in 1954. An active member and former president of the Owosso Rotary Club, George was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. George was also an active member of the First Congregational Church of Owosso. George enjoyed hunting and fishing and treasured the times spent with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, with Rev. Jim Eaton and Rev. John Walworth officiating. George is survived by his wife Joan and his sons Edward of Mt. Pleasant and Thomas (Therese) of Owosso. His grandchildren include Julie (Chris) Bogas, Bradley (Sarah) Grant, Martha Grant, David Grant and his fiancé Rebecca Kokal and Emily (Aaron) Lobb. George is also survived by great-grandchildren Sam, Nick, Ben and Grace, brother Robert (June) Grant of Ann Arbor and two special nephews.
