McCoy, Charles Ramon age 90, of Minneapolis and Plymouth, loving father and husband, passed away peacefully October 11, 2008.
He was born October 9, 1918, in Duluth, Minnesota to Charles Vaughn and Pansy Wirth McCoy.
He earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Minnesota Duluth and a master's degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Michigan.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Hursh McCoy; children, Jeffrey McCoy, Mary Brouillet (Dan), and Jeremy McCoy; granddaughter, Julie York (Brandon).
Charles Ramon worked as assistant manager of the Arrowhead Bowling Alleys, Duluth; merchant marine technician, fireman, and oiler in engine departments on Great Lakes vessels; served in the United States Army with the occupation forces in Japan as Powerhouse Engineer at 8002 Hydroponic installation, which supplied fresh vegetables to US troops stationed in Japan and other US Army occupied areas. A life-long educator, he taught senior high school English and social studies in Minnesota public schools at Grand Marais and Fergus Falls, and served as principal and assistant principal at high schools in Westbrook, Granite Falls, and Minneapolis. He was a 50-year member of Glen Avon Masonic Lodge #306 A.F.&A.M., Zuhrah Shrine, Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite Masons; member, Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis; elder for life, Westbrook Presbyterian Church, Westbrook, Minnesota. Charles Ramon's many interests included travel in the fifty states, Canada, the British Isles, continental Europe, Turkey, the Holy Land, and playing the piano while everyone sang their choices of songs!
