On Friday, January 31, 2014 Rebecca Jo Hartong of Fairfax, VA passed away peacefully at home with her devoted husband Mark by her side after a long battle with Peritoneal Mucinous Carcinomatosis.
Rebecca was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 15, 1956 to the late Richard R. and Ruth Anne Vickerman.
She graduated from Orono High School, Orono Minnesota and attended College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, the University of Minnesota- Duluth, and George Mason University, where she studied French History, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Rebecca was an accomplished flutist and in addition to teaching flute played with the Woodbridge Flute Choir, the Washington DC Friday Morning Music Club and the Manassas Symphony Orchestra.
Surviving in addition to her husband Mark is one sister, Valerie (Ken) Runes, one brother, Lyle (Shelia) Vickerman, nieces, Leah (Sohrab) Vaid, Jennifer Morris, Nephews, Mike and Andy Morris.
