Mr. Edward William Specht, 67 of Rockton, Illinois died Saturday, November 14, 2020 in his home surrounded by family.
The son of William K. Specht and Anne E. Specht (Caveness) was born on March 17th, 1953, in Morrison, IL.
A graduate of Milledgeville High School and University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. He moved to Rockford in 1977 to work for the Extension Service.
He married Anita Rumage in 1982. They were married for 33 years until being preceded in death in 2015.
He worked for the Stephenson County Health Department for 24 years until retiring in January 2020. He was a member of the 4-H, Future Farmers of America, Prince of Peace Church, Rockton Lions Club, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful and Shirland School Board. Throughout his life Ed was known for his infectious smile, an ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and have a story for every occasion. One of Ed's favorite past-times was to cook for and throw get-togethers for family and friends. (The larger the better) Ed loved working at Williams Tree Farm every winter for over 35 years to share his cheerfulness and love for story telling while driving tractors for visitors. Ed was loved by all.
He is survived by his four children, Margarette Mittrach, Benjamin (Kate), Carl (Samantha) and Dale (Katelyn); six grandchildren; his three siblings, Patricia, Thomas (Elizabeth) and Diana (Daniel) Saaverdra and his two beloved dogs, Pappi and Pooh.
He is predeceased by his wife, Anita, and his parents.
