Born in Lynn, MA, she was daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Languiere) Batchelder and lived in Portland most of her life. She attended schools in Saugus, MA and college in Boston, was a librarian at Olin Library at Wesleyan, was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland, the Daughters of American Revolution, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Middletown. Winnifred is survived by a son, Jim Martin of Cromwell; a daughter, Lois Dooley of Middletown; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
