Robert Barry Beman, 66, of Midland, died Thursday morning, Feb. 8, 2007 at MidMichigan Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born April 20, 1940 in Detroit, and had lived in Marquette as a young child. When he was eleven his parents moved to Midland, and he graduated from Midland High School in 1958. Bob served in the United States Navy from 1958-1960, and had received his associate's degree from Ferris State University in automotive technology.
On August 24, 1963 he married Janet Scharich in Midland. They lived in Howe, Ind. for a brief time then returned to Midland in 1966 when he began his employment with Dirk Waltz Buick Oldsmobile.
Bob worked at Dirk Waltz for several years, and then worked for Dow Corning Corporation for many years until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church , enjoyed bowling, golf, and was a lifelong car-truck enthusiast. Bob cherished his time spent at the cottage at Wixom Lake, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife Janet are his children: Kandi (Terry) Crumley of Columbia, Tenn., John (Denise) Beman of Chipley, Fla., Jim (Chris) Beman of Midland, Joe Beman and his wife Karla Myers-Beman of Interlochen, grandchildren: Ashley Beman, Tyler Imke, Kyle Beman, Desiree Beman, Elijah Crumley, Promila Crumley, Jacie Beman, Belle Beman, mother Margaret Anne Beman of Midland, special friends Denny and Mary Curley and his dear grandchildren J.J. and Bear. He was predeceased by his father Floyd L. Beman and his biological mother Shirley Ellenz.
