Rita Turner Nelson, 80, died Dec. 9, 2009, in Murphy.
She was born in Chicago and lived in Fort Pierce until 2001 when she and her husband moved to Murphy.
Before retirement, she was a supervisor with Southern Bell.
She was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce and Ranger Methodist Church in Murphy.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Fort Pierce Nobeletts and Daughters of the Nile, Zuliema Club; charter member of the Gulfstream Lodge of the Sons of Norway; and past president of the Capron Trail Garden Circle, She was a member of the Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Fort Pierce.
Survivors include her sons, Lynn W. Nelson Jr. and Richard H. Nelson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn W. Nelson; and brother, Joseph Turner.
