MADISON - Marjorie "Midge" V. Wacker, age 86, passed away on Friday, Aug. 24, 2007. at St. Mary's Care Center, where she had resided since 2001.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1920. in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Marjorie (Turner) Gramse.
She married Roland K. Wacker on Aug. 7, 1943. in Chicago.
They moved to Madison in 1949, where they lived on Monroe St., and later in the Midvale Heights neighborhood.
"Rol" preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1971.
Madge worked in the cosmetics department of Manchester's Department Store for many years. She loved nature, gardening, floral arranging, arts and crafts, entertaining, theatre, a "good garage sale", and in later years, weekly excursions to resteraunts and movies. She will be most remembered for her vibrant personality, flamboyant humor and resplendent style, in addition, to her many friendships, her ability to find and create the perfect gift for a person, and her favorite role of being "Grandma Midge" to her two cherished granddaughters.
Midge is survived by a son Wynn Wacker; a daughter, Gaye (Kirk) Stantis; two granddaughters, Kim Stantis (fiance James Bryan) and Amy Stantis, all of Madison; a sister, Joyce Lee, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Roland, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant broither; a sister, Barbara Barnard; and most recently, her favorite aunt, Jane Hasselberger.
