EAST KINGSTON -- Marjorie Tice Rowell, 82, of Main Street, died April 4, 2005, at Exeter Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Jean (Waldron) and Dewees F. Tice, and was raised in Melrose and Brookline, Mass.
She was a 1940 graduate of Brookline High School, and a 1941 graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School. She lived in the Boston area for many years before moving to East Kingston in 1976. From 1967 to 1983, she was comptroller for Park School in Brookline, Mass.
In addition, she managed accounts for many years for Church of Our Savior in Brookline. She was also a trustee of East Kingston Library. Mrs. Rowell enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, big band jazz, and the blues.
Family members include her husband, Nathaniel B. Rowell of East Kingston; a brother, B. Kent Tice of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Emily S. Burr of Manchester and Alison H. Burr of Windsor, Conn.; a son, Sturtevant T. Burr of Newton, Mass.; four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Sturtevant Burr, of Brookline, Mass.
