  Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) February 4, 1996 HOLDEN - John L. Wood Sr., 85, of 166 Putnam Road, formerly of 26 Francis Ave., Shrewsbury, died yesterday in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his wife, Esther (Nielsen) Martin Wood; two sons, Stanley D. Wood of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and John L. Wood Jr. of Pepperell; a daughter, Joan E. Ethier of Shrewsbury; and eight grandchildren. His wife, Ruth L. (Fader) Wood, died in 1988. He was born in Somerville, son of Samuel D. and Ella M. (Alchorn) Wood, and lived in Shrewsbury for 45 years before moving here two years ago. Mr. Wood was building superintendent at the Graphic Arts Building, 44 Portland St., Worcester, and at the Central Building, Main Street, Worcester, for many years before his retirement. Previously, he worked for Railway Express. He was a member of the Church of The Nazarene, Worcester.
