Elizabeth Moore Green, 77, passed away peacefully on the morning of Dec. 5, 2002, at a Fort Worth care center.
Mrs. Green was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Jamaica, N.Y., to Banton and Madge Moore, and grew up in Dutchess County. As a child, she lived in France briefly with her family and fondly recalled this experience. She graduated from Brown University in 1945, and met her future husband, W.H. "Bill" Green while visiting her aunts and uncle in Albany after the war. They married Sept. 7, 1946, at the family home in Hopewell Junction, N.Y. and settled in Albany to ranch and raise their family. Elizabeth loved her life and was an avid supporter, volunteer and representative of her community, especially the Fort Griffin Fandangle, and received the Albany Chamber of Commerce Cornerstone Award in 1970. She was a faithful and active member of the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church for 56 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and deacon of the church. She also enjoyed serving as a docent for the Old Jail Art Center and Polo on the Prairie.
Mrs. Green dearly loved her family and friends and was known for her generous spirit and engaging personality. She was a truly devoted and supportive wife to her husband, W.H. "Bill" Green during their 47 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brothers, Jack Moore and Bill Moore.
Survivors: Sons, W.H. "Billy" Green III and his wife, Liz, of Albany, and John Banton Green of Grand Prairie; daughter, Madge Green Henry and her husband, Bob, of Vernon; sister, Margaret McMillan of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; brother, Jim Moore of New York City; grandchildren, Henry Green and Laura Green, both of Albany, Clayton Henry of Dallas and Helen Henry of Austin; many nieces and nephews; and devoted caregiver, Marian Birkla of Albany.
