He was born in Norwich on Aug. 27, 1940, the son of the late Ernest J. Sr. and Virginia (Tubbs) Wiese.

Wiese and his fiancée Leslie of Mansfield; two daughters, Sally Wiese Kropp and her husband Michael of Franklin and Bonnie Tompkins and her husband Robert of Groton; a brother, Ernest J. Wiese Jr. of Preston; two sisters, Catherine A. Fish of Preston and Gina L. Murphy of Franklin; a cousin, Mary Elizabeth Kenyon of Norwich; several friends and associates; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
