ELTON C. HERRICK, 80, of the United Methodist Health Care Center, a retired letter carrier, died yesterday at the center.
He was the husband of Joyce (Rawlinson) Herrick. Born on May 13, 1922, in Palmer, Mass., a son of the late Elton I. and Helen (Duguay) Herrick, he had lived in Warwick, and had lived on Narragansett Avenue in Barrington for 30 years. He moved to the center 11 years ago.
Mr. Herrick had worked for the U.S. Postal Service, in Barrington, for 23 years before retiring in 1983.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, in East Providence, and the American Legion, William Shields Jr. Post 43, in Warwick.
He was a graduate of the Lee Institute of Real Estate, in Providence.
Mr. Herrick was a member of Seekonk Congregational Church.
He enjoyed boating and fishing.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Bruce F. Herrick of Warwick; a daughter, Melissa E. Barker of Grottoes, Va.; two sisters, Lillian Smith and Helen Michoud, both of Ormond Beach, Fla; and two grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Ruth Perreault and Margaret Peterson.
