GRANVILLE - Patricia Ann Bliss, 68, passed away in her sleep on January 26, 2010, surrounded by family at her farm in West Granville, MA.
Patricia was born on June 13, 1941 in Springfield, MA, the only child of William and Shirley Pollitt. Her father, born in Oldham, England (1905) was the first Chief of Police for the city of Wilbraham, MA. Her mother, a homemaker, was born in Beverly, MA (1906).
Patricia graduated from Technical High School in Springfield, MA in 1959. She married her high school sweetheart Richard Bliss in June of 1960.
They settled in West Granville, MA on their farm where they raised their seven children and shared 38 years of marriage and many wonderful memories with friends and family. She was a wife, mother, and home maker. In later years, she earned a Master's Degree in Psychology from Westfield State College at the age of 63. She enjoyed her work as a psychologist and counselor at The Carson Center in Westfield where her kind heart and great love of people allowed her to help many. She was also an active member of the Westfield Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She loved to work in her flower garden, and enjoyed researching and exploring the history of her farm and town as well as her own genealogy. Her family and friends will always remember her kind words of encouragement and the way they were invited to enjoy the serenity of their farm through summer picnics and family activities.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved friend and husband, Richard (1941-1998); daughter Koreen (1960-1963), son Richard Jr. (1962-1963), and son Jeremy (1977-1977).
She leaves behind seven children and their families. From oldest to youngest, daughter & son-in-law Jodine & Henry DeVargas; daughter & son-in-law, Katie & Rick DiSanto, their children Ashley & Cameron; daughter & son-in-law Lorinda & Bill Winn, their children Zachary, Melanie, & Chelsea; daughter & son-in-law Jessica & Ken Ridley, their children Brendan, Abrianna, & Kaylei; son Shawn Bliss; daughter & son-in-law Heather & Brett Van Sickle, their children Madison & Jacob; and son & daughter-in-law Theron & Laurah Bliss, their children Teagan, Evan, & Corinne.
She will also be missed by her beloved dogs, Tori and Shadow.
