  Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent January 1988 Walter E. Papst, 87, of ..., died Sunday, Jan. 10. Mr. Papst was born April 18, 1900, at Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Henry and Lena Altmansopher Papst. They lived in Nance County near Fullerton where he grew up and received his education. He married Jessie Cutler on June 9, 1923, at Central City. They lived in the Greeley area, later moving to Hamilton County where he was involved in farming and raising livestock. He retired in 1975, and they moved to Grand Island. He was a member of St. Leo's parish. Survivors include his wife; a niece whom they raised, Jeanne Black of Lake Elsinore, Calif., a brother, Joseph of Neola, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
