  Herald and News (Klamath Falls, OR) November 11, 2003 Harriet Jeane Blake, 72, Portland, the widow of former Oregon Institute of Technology President Larry Blake, died Nov. 7, 2003, in Portland. Mrs. Blake was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the eldest child of Frank H. and Olive (Berry) Trippet. After graduating from Flathead High School in 1948, she graduated with a teaching certificate from the University of Montana and taught for two years in Montana schools. On July 9, 1952, she married Larry Blake with whom she had graduated from high school. She obtained a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Meredith College in 1981 and a legal assistant's certificate from the same school the following year. She later received post-graduate credits from Southern Oregon University and the University of Oregon, then taught pre-school and kindergarten for 10 years. She moved to Portland in 2000. Mrs. Blake was a member of the following organizations: Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as regent of chapters in Kalispell, Klamath Falls, and Susanville, Calif.; the American Association of University Women, serving as president in Susanville; United Methodist Women, serving as president the district officer in Susanville; PEO Sorority, serving as president in Susanville; and Daughters of the Nile. Her husband preceded her in death in June. Survivors include her children Howard, Kathleen and Larry Jr. of Portland, Richard of Sammamish, Wash., and Frederick of Klamath Falls; brother Edgar Trippet of Kalispell; sister Helen Garret of Missoula, Mont.; and 14 grandchildren.
