BEVERLY — Mrs. Grace H. (Cloyd) Barton, 86, beloved wife of the late Jesse F. Barton Jr., died Monday, January 16, 2012 at her home in Beverly.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Ethel (Chase) Cloyd. She was raised in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School, Class of 1944. Grace had been employed at CBS Hytron, Babco Electronics and at the time of her retirement, she had worked at the Farms Apothecary in Beverly Farms.
A resident of Beverly for most of her life, Grace enjoyed traveling to her favorite places including Mount Washington Valley and Florida. She enjoyed arts and crafts and visiting her favorite restaurants, especially Café Salerno in Beverly. During WWII she was proud to be chosen as the courier between GE buildings of the then top secret plans for the first jet engine.
She is survived by her daughter, Gale F. Chapman and her husband, Thomas of Rochester, NH, two sons, Robert W. Barton and his wife, Donna of Beverly and Larry D. Barton and his wife, Deanna of Topsfield, a granddaughter, Kimberly A. Holbrook and her husband, Michael of Georgetown, three great-grandchildren, Austin, Kevin and Katelyn, a brother, Albert E. Cloyd and his wife, Theresa of Beverly, her brothers-in-law, Robert Holden and his wife, Elva of York, ME, Harry G. Barton and his wife, Nancy of Beverly and Chuck Barton and his wife, Sandra of South Hamilton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was also the grandmother of the late Jennifer Lee Barton and sister of the late Louise Renard, Marcia Holden and John Douglas Cloyd.
