DeWayne D. ''Wayne'' Haskell, 69, of 66 Magnolia Ave., WE, died at 9:58 p.m. Monday (Feb. 3, 2003) in his home.
A Jamestown-area resident since 1954, he was born Dec. 9, 1933, in Napoli, the son of the late DeForest D. and Evelyn V. Langworthy Haskell.
He attended Cassadaga Valley Central School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954 aboard the USS Cone. He had been employed by the former Crescent Tool Co. for 18 years, was a rural carrier for The Post-Journal for 20 years and retired in January of 1999 from MRC Bearings, where he had been employed for 18 years.
He attended Bethany Church of God, was a member of John W. Tiffany Post 53 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the Moose Lodge and the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion.
He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved spending time with his border collie, Laddie.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley J. Carr Haskell, whom he married May 16, 1953; three sons: Larry W. Haskell of St. Maries, Idaho, and Timothy L. and Christopher L. Haskell, both of Jamestown; a daughter, Susan J. Rowley of Frewsburg; 12 grandchildren: Mark L. Haskell and Erin C. Tipton, both of St. Maries, Melissa A., Adam T., John D., Julia A., Jaclyn V. and Justine M. Haskell and Amanda M. Bender, all of Jamestown, and Joshua W., Matthew C. and Jessica L. Rowley, all of Frewsburg; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank M. Haskell of Donaphin, Mo., and a sister, Belle A. Delahoy of Bemus Point.
Besides his father, who died April 1, 1969, and his mother, who died Nov. 15, 2001, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Haskell, on Oct. 8, 1963.
