Mae Bell Marts, age 99, of Fredericktown died Sunday May 5, 2013, at the Morrow Manor Care Center in Chesterville. Mae Bell was born August 30, 1913 in Muncie, Indiana to James and Matilda Ann (Myers) Briscoe and had spent most of her lifetime in the Fredericktown area.
We praise and thank you God for your faithfulness for our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother who is continuing "In Your Presence". Your answered prayers, for she wanted to go quickly and quietly and that she did. She sang for us almost to the end and we sang along in her ear. Thank you Lord for that sweet time together. She had a unique relationship with her Savior Jesus Christ. Oh yes we are talking about Mae Marts of Fredericktown. She and Daddy were always there for us, no matter how many miles away. After we graduated they moved to Florida. After Daddy passed away we brought her back to Fredericktown for the nest twenty years and "What a Blessing!" She loved to walk to downtown Fredericktown to Montenery's, Ritchey's, First Knox National Bank or wherever. Though she did not venture out much in the latter years. She was always ready to be with the family and always told us when to go home, down to the last day. We love her very much and each of us enjoyed her in a different way. She taught us so much by her life, her tenderness, her feisty ways and how to just be yourself. We appreciated her determination ("I'll Do It Myself") clear up to the end. She never changed. She stayed in the background, and really did not want anything in the paper. I can hear her say "They didn't get this one right either, did they. They did not listen to me." She was quite a "Lady" we will miss her, we do already but she gave us each our moments before passing. We love you Daddy and Mother! Thank you for giving to us. Thank you God for You living in them thru Jesus that they may give to others.
Mae is survived by her daughter Jean (Neal) Reed of Fredericktown; grandchildren Kim Mitchell, Kathi McMullen and Greg Amick; great grandchildren Kevin and Kayla Berard, Adam and Cory Amick, Jennifer Stephens and Michelle Tucker.
Mae Bell was preceded in death by her husband Harold Marts, daughter Shirley Processor, granddaughter Karole Reed, brothers Jesse and James Briscoe and sister O'Greta Parrish.
