JACKSONVILLE - Robert W. Taylor, 81, of Jacksonville died Monday, July 21, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1922, near Bluffs, the son of Claude B. and Jeanne J. Vortman Taylor. He married Audra Nienhiser in 1948; she died in 1981. He married Gladys Strubbe Tappenbeck in 1982; she died in 2002.
Mr. Taylor graduated from Chapin High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 33rd Division. He worked for Central Motor Sales in Bluffs, Waters Standard Service in Chapin and Wareco as a maintenance supervisor. He later owned Taylor's Clocks and Collectibles. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Chapin.
Survivors: a stepson, Terry Tappenbeck of Springfield; a stepdaughter, Naydene (husband, Roger) Nergenah of Chapin; four stepgrandchildren; a sister, Velma Hainline of Jacksonville; 10 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
