Janice R. (Haskell) Plumb died September 11, 1998. Born in 1920 to Ralph H. and Ruth (Stanley) Haskell, she was a prolific author, photographer, horsewoman, musician, environmentalist and farmer. Her articles, stories and photographs appeared in Down East, Yankee, Yachting, Audubon, The Bangor Daily News. Organic Gardening, Life, and the Saturday Evening Post. She was proficient at yodelling, jumping horses, lariat-spinning, and precision machine tooling and well-known for her humour, strength, and quiet giving to those in need.
Surviving are her sister, Judith (Haskell) McGuire; her children, Rena Day, Penelope Plumb and Frederick Plumb; grandchildren, Holly (Day) French, Eric Day, Timothy Mauro, Heather Day, and Alice Mauro, and great-grandson, Darrell French.
