Arthur P. Coggins, 94, of Berlin, died Tuesday, (February 29, 2000) in Norfolk, MA.
He was born in Pembroke, ME, the son of the late A. Burton and Blanche Porter Coggins.
He was married for 61 years to the late Marian Small.
He leaves his daughter, Virginia Eilertson, of Norfolk, MA; a son, Lawrence A. Coggins of Berlin, and a late son, A. Burton Coggins, II; a son-in-law, Donald Eilertson; four granddaughters; four grandsons; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Pembroke H.S.,FarmingtonNormal School, and Boston University, Mr. Coggins was a Secondary School Teacher in the New Britain Public Schools for 37 years. Active in the United States Power Squadron, he held many offices on the local, district, and national levels.An ardent sailor, he spent 15 summers yacht racing and chartered cruises off the Maine coast for 25 years, ending in 1993.
