PORTLAND -- Joyce Blood Morey, 92, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Cedars Nursing Home in Portland.
Born on May 21, 1920, in Oceanville, the daughter of Leo Irving Blood and Mildred Edith (Fifield) Blood, she attended school in Oceanville and graduated from Stonington High School. In 1937 she married Montgomery Chase Morey and they lived in Stonington until 1942 when they moved to Rockland.
In 1965 they moved to Thomaston. Joyce worked for Seth Lowe Press, Ran Automated Typing Co., Knox Hospital and retired from Pen Bay Medical Center. She was a member of the Broad Cove Church in Cushing and was a member and once president of Rockland BPW Club. She also was a volunteer for the Child Abuse Council. She enjoyed sharing special times with family, card games and doing Craft work.
She was predeceased by her husband, Montie; her son Leroy M. Morey of Cushing; and also two sisters, Eleanor Murgita and Beth Stockford both of Rockland.
She is survived by a brother Lawrence Blood and his wife Amy of Union and Florida; her daughter Linda Benway of Westbrook; daughter- in-law Laurie Morey of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Susan Martin of Cushing, Teresa Brown and her husband Devin of Hamilton, Ohio, Mark Morey of Cushing and Lisa Walz and her husband Darrin of Hebron, Ky.; five great-grandchildren, Jesse Eaton and his wife Erica of Virginia, Lance Corporal Justin Berry of The U.S. Marine Corps, Sheena Brown of Saco, Niesha Brown of London, England and Christine Healey of Rockland; and four great-great-grandchildren.
