Nancy C. Eames, 54, died Saturday at her home.
She was born in New York City, a daughter of Edwin L. and Rose Hoag Cleaves, and graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School in Long Island City, N.Y. She earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Maine, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
She worked for the Kennebec Journal, the Amsterdam (N.Y.) Recorder and most recently at MaineGeneral Health in the Community Relations Department. She was editor of MaineGeneral's award-winning quarterly publication, "Your Health."
She was a member of the Maine Health Care Communications Association, and over the years was involved in Christmas in Old Hallowell, the Hall-Dale Afterschool Program and Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley.
Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Stanley H. Eames of Hallowell; a daughter, Wendy Melissa Pietri of Augusta; a son, Clayton L. Eames of South Portland; a sister, Susan A. Thatcher of Augusta; and a granddaughter, Kristen Rose Pietri of Augusta.
