Theodore "Ted" Hunter Marvelle, age 66, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006 [sic], at his home in Moapa.
He was born April 30, 1940, in Teaneck, N.J., to Ward Bent and Nellie "Grandma Gum" Elizabeth Connon Marvelle.
Ted grew up in Massachusetts, as a young man, he moved to San Diego, where he graduated from high school. After a brief tour in the U.S. Navy, he moved back to San Diego. He loved working as a radio news broadcaster. In 1985, he relocated to Las Vegas, where he worked as a news personality for KFM 102. In 2001, he moved to Moapa. He served as a volunteer firefighter and loved living in a small community. He had a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, whose laugh carried through a room. He was a brilliant man and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved his children very much and was very close with his youngest son, Alex.
Survivors include three sons and three daughters: Angela Marie (Greg) Martinez of Turlock, Calif., Jeanette Elizabeth Fisher of Lakeview, Ore., Theodore Ward of Long Beach, Calif., Melissa Marvelle of Las Vegas, Ward Scott of Las Vegas, and Alexander Michael of Moapa; three grandchildren, Wendy Marie Elizabeth Hopper, Tyler Gregory Martinez and Lindsay Melissa Marvelle; and one great-grandson, Joshua Ryan Hopper.
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Anthony.
