  Lewiston Morning Tribune (ID) November 1, 1999 Alfred R. Puckett of Nezperce, a retired military man and farmer, died Friday of acute leukemia at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was 70. He was born Nov. 11, 1928, at Mohler, Idaho, the son of Hugh and Rhoda Jay Puckett. He graduated from Nezperce High School in 1946. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on Oct. 27, 1950, and served during the Korean War. He was discharged on Oct. 16, 1952. He then joined the U.S. Air Force on Feb. 17, 1953, and served in Alaska, Massachusetts, Maine, Germany and Kansas. He married Kathryn Cabana on May 31, 1958, at Wareham, Mass. He retired from the military in February 1971 and they moved back to Idaho. He worked for Dale Johnson farming before ill health forced him to retire in August 1984. He enjoyed fishing, camping and puttering around his house. He is survived by his wife at the family home at Nezperce; two sons, Donald of Nezperce and Stuart Lee of Fort Knox, Ky.; three brothers, Thomas and Fred, both of Nezperce, and Ronald of Craigmont; and four grandchildren.
