  Daily Democrat May 9, 2012 Patricia Mary (Spear) Moilanen Jan. 10, 1939 - May 6, 2012 Patricia Moilanen peacefully passed away in her sleep on Sunday, May 6, 2012, in West Sacramento. Pat was born on Jan. 10, 1939, and raised in Springfield, Mass. She graduated from Cathedral Springfield school in 1957 and then married Russ Spear. Russ and Pat moved to Woodland in the 1960s where Pat raised three children and helped Russ to raise cattle while also working as office manager for Majestic Press. Pat was an active member of the Holy Rosary School and Church, she was very involved with her children's Woodland 4-H and FFA projects and she enjoyed singing in the church choir, teaching catechism, and community theater. In 1979 Pat started her own business and operated an advertising company for the Police Officers Research Association of California. In 1987 she opened another successful business Cookie Greetings where she had clients all over the United States. She traveled the world taking numerous cruises. She suffered a stroke in 1993 (which for most people would have been the end of her life and career) but just like she lived her life she fought hard to recover and lived many happy additional years. Watching her grandchildren grow, attending many sporting events, concerts and plays with her grandchildren was the light of her life. She found a new love and married in 2005 and lived the rest of her life with her husband Kenneth Moilanen. They enjoyed traveling and working together as a team. They also loved watching sports together and sitting on their deck looking at the wildlife on the water. Pat is survived by her husband, Kenneth Moilanen; daughters, Colleen Manzer and Julie Sparks; and four wonderful grandchildren, Michelle and James Morrison, and Melissa and Randy Sparks II; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Spear Bisson; sister, Joyce Flannigan; brother, Mark Kelliher; and parents, Mark and Mary Kelliher.
