MONTPELIER - Avis M. Smith, 93, of Loomis Street, formerly of Moretown, died Feb. 28, 2001, at Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.
She was born in Montpelier, Dec. 15, 1907, the daughter of Charles and Leona (Muzzy) Goodell.
She attended Montpelier schools.
She was married to Allen Smith. He died in March 1978.
Survivors include six sons, Earl Smith of Sparks, Nev., Frank Smith and Richard Smith, both of Southington, Conn., Kenneth Smith of Montpelier, Rodney Smith of New York and Robert Smith of Northfield; four daughters, Pauline Ruggles and Arlene Manning, both of Montpelier, Barbara Merrill of Berlin and Betty Plante of Graniteville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons, Ralph Smith and Roger Smith; seven brothers, Raymond Goodell, Frank Goodell, Chester Goodell, Carl Goodell, Earl Goodell, Bernard Goodell, and Clyde Goodell.
