MONTPELIER — Arthur Percy Manning Sr., 85, died Saturday, April 13, 2019, at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, with family by his side.
He was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Moretown, the son of Percy and Mildred (Devino) Manning.
He graduated in 1952 from Montpelier High School.
Mr. Manning married Arlene Smith June 8, 1957, in Montpelier.
He retired from Vermont Plastics Co. after 42 years employment. He also worked as a security guard for Vermont College, a special policeman in Montpelier, and repaired televisions. He was a member of St. Augustine's Parish, a lifetime member of the Canadian Club and held many degrees in the Moose Lodge. Mr Manning was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his children Charlene Edson, of West Topsham, Pamela Lee, of Barre, Tina Manning, of Plainfield, Arthur Jr., Christopher and Marsha Manning, all of Montpelier; siblings Anne Rodgers, of Marshfield, Elaine Isham, of Moretown, Theresa Brooks, of Meriden, Connecticut, Mary Kelley, Raymond Manning, both of Northfield; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He predeceased by his wife May 14, 2015; and brothers William "Mickey," Thomas and Francis Manning.
