MONTPELIER - Evelyn M. Goodell, 92, a longtime resident of Barre Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Central Vermont Medical Center.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1915, in Moretown, the daughter of Osman and Stella (Macy) Smith. She attended grade school in Middlesex and Moretown and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1934.
In 1941, Evelyn married Earl S. Goodell in Montpelier. Mr. Goodell predeceased her on June 20, 1993. She worked for a number of local businesses including Hills Studio, the Imperial Restaurant and the Reddy Plastics Co. She also worked as a dispatcher for the Montpelier Police Department, retiring from there in 1973.
Her interests and hobbies included baking and gardening. She had an enormous love of animals, especially cats.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra J. Field of Montpelier; a sister, Florence Farnham of Berlin; two granddaughters, Heather J. Michaud and her husband Cris of Montpelier and Heidi L. MacAskill and her husband Chris of Barre Town; two grandsons, Todd M. Field and his companion Suzanne Sleeper of East Montpelier, and Dan D. Field of Montpelier; one great-granddaughter, Jordyn E. Michaud of Montpelier; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Cindy M. Field, and a brother-in-law, Arthur H. Farnham.
