Muriel Estelle Widener, 88, of Warrenville, SC, formally of Mt. Clemens MI, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Shelby Widener, daughters, Dorthy Gay Erwin and Mary Margaret Otto, a sister, Margaret Rose Geeza, a grandson, Erick James Eckert and a great-grandson, Taylor Joseph Lipke.
Mrs. Widener was born in Brainerd, Minnesota to the late Clair Eugene and Dorothy Mary Grimes Bedal.
She was a United States Navy veteran. Mrs. Widener was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A proud Elks Lady, she was an honorary life member of The Mt. Clemens Elks Lodge #2124 serving as past chaplain of the Mt. Clemens Lodge #2124, heading many charity projects such as the Hoop Shoot Basketball for scholarships and always planning the children's annual Christmas party. She was a Girl Scout leader for more than thirty years and an outdoor trainer instructor and Area Manager. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and loved to gamble.
Surviving are her children: Michael Shelby Widener (Rita), Warrenville, SC, Kathleen Ann Otto (Ralph), Roseville, Michigan, Richard Clair Widener (Deanna), Traverse City, Michigan Judith Veronica Tindall (Frank), Summerville, SC and Barbara Rose Christian (Kenneth Hollenbaugh), Barnwell, SC; Son-in-Law Roger Erwin, Goodyear AZ, twenty one grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
