  The Telegraph (Nashua, NH) June 21, 2007 Andrew F. Burnham, 94, a native and lifelong Nashua resident, and a longtime Nashua schoolteacher, died Tuesday evening, June 19th at the Warde Health Center in Windham, after a brief illness. Born in Nashua on September 3, 1912, Mr. Burnham was a son of the late Frank and Christine (Coffey) Burnham. Educated in local schools, Mr. Burnham graduated from Nashua High School, class of 1931 and graduated from Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Physiology in 1937. He later received his Masters degree in Education from Fitchburg State College. Mr. Burnham married the former Marie Alice Messier on April 26, 1943 in Pecos, Texas, while he was serving with the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Burnham shared over 58 years together before her death January 7, 2002. Mr. Burnham was a teacher in the Nashua School System for 35 years. He taught science at the former Nashua Junior High School on Spring Street and then at the former Nashua High School on Elm Street, until his retirement in the late 1970s. He held memberships in the Nashua Teachers Union and the American Legion James E. Coffey Post 3 of Nashua. Mr. Burnham was a communicant of St. Patrick Church of Nashua. Mr. Burnham and his wife, Marie, enjoyed spending winters at their home in Winter Haven, Florida for eighteen years. An avid baseball fan, Mr. Burnham saw the Boston Red Sox win World Series Championships in 1918 and 2004. Members of his family include three sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Barbara Burnham, Robert A. and Loretta Burnham and Thomas M. and Barbara Burnham, all of Nashua; two daughters, Sister Rosemary Burnham of the Sisters of Mercy and Marianne Burnham, both of Nashua; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Jeffrey, Timothy, Alexander, Nicholas, Leslie, Michael and Jennifer Burnham; and dear friends, Leo and Carmen Fitzgerald of Hollis.
