NAPLES, Fla. -- Loving wife, mother and friend, Charlotte B. Snow died unexpectedly in Naples, Fla. on April 14, 2007, after a nearly ten-year battle with stroke. Born Aug. 3, 1928, to Hazel Frank and Maynard D. Brown Sr., she grew up in Portland and graduated from Deering High School in 1946. As a teenager, she played guitar and sang with the Ken McKenzie Band on radio. On Oct. 17, 1954, she married Donald B. Snow of South Portland.
Shortly after their marriage, Charlotte and Don journeyed coast-to-coast and spent two years in California, where their first child, Betsy Lynn, was born Oct. 1, 1955. In 1957, they returned to Maine to raise their young family. Their second child, Dawnmarie, was born Dec. 18, 1959. In 1962, they purchased a home in South Portland where they spent the next 35 years. Both their children graduated from South Portland High School. Betsy is now a lawyer with the Navajo Nation in Tuba City, Ariz., and Dawnmarie, an Office Assistant for the National Park Service in Ochopee, Fla.
Charlotte and Don moved to Naples, Fla. in 1998 where Don cared full-time for Charlotte in her home. She leaves behind her husband, Donald; daughter, Betsy Lynn Snow of Flagstaff, Ariz.; daughter, Dawnmarie Snow-Roth and her husband Peter D. Roth of Naples, Fla.; sister, Edna Sanville of Gorham; sister, Myra Richards and her husband Don of Conway, S.C.; and two sisters-in-law, Marion Hashey of South Portland and Jane Snow of Scarborough.
