Caroline A. Holst, 67, of Grants Pass died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at her home.
Holst was born March 10, 1935, in San Francisco, and grew up in Oakland, Calif., where she graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1952.
On Dec. 5, 1953, in Oakland, she married Donald E. Holst, who survives.
Her husband's military service moved them to Baltimore and Atlanta. They returned to the San Francisco Bay area in 1955. She worked for Chevron USA in Concord, Calif., for 15 years before pursuing her passion for arts and crafts. She worked with dried floral arrangements, decorative wood painting, needlework, sewing and interior design. "Caroline's Creations" were sold at craft fairs and consignment stores in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1995, she and her husband retired to a home on the Rogue River in Grants Pass.
She was active in the PTA, served as president of the Garnet Guild of the John Muir Hospital Auxiliary in Walnut Creek, Calif., and was involved with the Concord Stompers square dancers. She was a member of the Western Welcome Newcomers and Newman United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, golfing, square dancing, reading, and picknicking and camping with her family. She especially enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Linda Stone of Clarkston, Wash., and Cynthia Garcia of Spokane, Wash.; three sons, Stephen Holst of Medford, Bradley Holst of Grants Pass and Bruce Holst of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Frank Clark of Chelan, Wash.; and 17 grandchildren.
