WINDHAM -- David W. 'Moose' McGowen, 66, of Smith Road, died on Friday, March 2, 2012 at his home.
Born in Brunswick on Nov. 28, 1945, he was the son of Donald L. and Katharine A. (Warren) McGowen.
David was raised and educated in Windham, graduating from Windham High School, class of 1964. A plumber by trade all of his adult life, he began his career during high school working for Water Systems of Windham until he started his own business in 1980, D.W. McGowen Plumbing Inc., of Windham. Along with his son, he was still working in the family business at the time of his passing. He enjoyed his work, doing word and cross word puzzles, and according to his family, was an avid story teller. In the last several years, he also enjoyed genealogy.
Survivors include one son, Larry D. Hodgkins and his wife, Lori, of Gray, three daughters, Andrea L. Jordan, of Gorham, Amanda M. McGowen and her fiancee, Mark A. Buxton, of Raymond and Sarah L. Franco and her husband, Adam, of Salisbury, Vt.' one brother, Michael R. McGowen, of Port St. Joe, Fla.; three grandsons, Jason Dow and Joshua Jordan, both of Gorham and Jack Buxton, of Raymond. David was expecting his first granddaughter in May.
