  Newsletter of the Haskell Family Society Volume 9, No. 3, September 2000 Robert C. Sawyer, 77, of Burnt Hills, NY, CSA passed away January 3, 2000 in hospital after a long illness. Born in Medford, Mass, Mr. Sawyer was a financial analyst with General Electric Company for 35 years before retiring in 1984. A great loss to his community through his illness, Mr. Sawyer was an honorary member of the Burnt Hills Rotary. During WWII he served with the 8th Air Force and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Phyllis (Whitmore) Sawyer (daughter of Elsie Haskell Whitmore); a daughter Pamela Jane Simmons of Boise Idaho; three sons, David C. Sawyer of Grand Junction, Colo., Drew A. Sawyer of San Diego, Calif., and Peter R. Sawyer of Burnt Hills; two brothers, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
