Robert Bosworth Hatch, 91 Businessman; loved jazz; leaves family on Cape Cod
BREWSTER - '' Robert Bosworth Hatch, 91, died Wednesday at his Brewster home of complications related to a stroke.
Mr. Hatch was born and raised in Bath, Maine, and was a 1931 graduate of Morse High School and a 1936 graduate of Bowdoin College. At Morse he played the saxophone and was known for his dancing skills and love of jazz.
After graduation he left Maine, becoming a successful businessman and the proprietor of Hatch Associates in Needham. He traveled extensively abroad and throughout the U.S.
After retirement he enjoyed golf, fishing and activities at the YMCA in Needham. He lived in Needham for more than 30 years.
Mr. Hatch was a YMCA volunteer and served on its board of directors. He was also a member and 12-year program director of the Great Blue Hills Power Squadron. He enjoyed jazz music, lobster bakes, dancing and fishing. He loved to take his grandchildren fishing along the Kennebec River at Popham Beach and in his boat, the Clarabelle, named after his mother.
Survivors include five children, Jane Hatch McGuire of Brewster, Robert Bosworth Hatch Jr. of Orleans, Jeffrey Hatch of Yarmouth, David Hatch of Brewster and Sali Corey of Portland, Maine; two brothers, Dan Hatch of Popham Beach, Maine, and Stanley Hatch of Peoria, Ill.; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.
