James W. Roller, 80, of West Lafayette, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette.
He was born April 24, 1935 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late John W. and Doris I. (French) Roller and was a 1952 graduate of Battle Ground High School.
His marriage of 63 years was to Patricia L. Kopf on June 18 1953 at the Battle Ground Church of God and she survives.
Mr. Roller was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy Reserves.
Jim worked as a Sawyer, cutting airplane panels and making dies for large ships, at ALCOA for over 30 years retiring in 1985. He then worked for Purdue University as an animal attendant until retiring there in 1998.
Mr. Roller was a former member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #123 of Lafayette and was a current member of the Battle Ground Masonic Lodge. He was active in High Five, a weekly luncheon group associated with Free Masonry, where he was the long time secretary.
Jim enjoyed living on and maintaining his family farm in West Lafayette, fishing and watching sports on television, especially football. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and children.
Surviving with his wife, Pat, are their children, Don Roller (wife: Marcia) and LeAnn Warthan (husband: Kenneth) both of Lafayette; a sister, Alice Hill of Lafayette and two brothers, John E. Roller of Battle Ground and Thomas Roller (wife: Marj) of Lafayette and a daughter-in-law, Charmaine Roller of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death with his parents is a son, Daniel W. Roller, and two brothers, Lynn and Charles Roller.
