  The Blade (Toledo, OH) September 30, 2017 Joyce Sworden, 82, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Joyce was born on April 23, 1935 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Jesse and Corinne (Myers) Wagner. She married Ned Sworden in October of 1953 in McClure, Ohio and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2015. Joyce is survived by her sons, Steve Sworden, of McClure, Ohio, Brett (Kathleen) Sworden, of Napoleon, Ohio, James Sworden, of Toledo, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Barbara and Linda Sworden; a sister, Betty Wolfe, of McClure, Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Samantha, Jesse, Katie, Mitchell and Carly; a great-grandchild, Alexander; nieces, Holly Barrea, Robin Goldstein, Joan Kerwin; and a nephew, Tom Wagner. Along with her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Sworden in 2011; a brother, Robert Wagner; and a sister, Shirley Kerwin. Joyce was a graduate of McClure High School. After graduation she married the love of her life, Ned. Joyce not only enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children, but she was an essential part of the family farm. Joyce loved working in their greenhouse, growing all varieties of flowers and tending to the fresh produce they grew and sold at the Sworden Fresh Market Produce Stand. Joyce looked forward to chatting with customers who visited the produce stand where she developed many loyal friends and customers. Joyce never missed the Fred Arps garden segment on the local radio and was honored to be on the show discussing her flowers and produce. When not working on the farm, Joyce enjoyed visiting their family campgrounds along the Maumee River and taking care of the bookkeeping, conversing with the guests and developing long lasting friendships at Swordens Campground. Joyce also enjoyed her trips to Florida, especially Tiki Village. Joyce was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and also a member of the Perrysburg Red Hats Society.
