Manitou Beach – George William Gatecliff, age 79, of Manitou Beach, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at his home under the loving care of his family.
He was born on January 22, 1942, in Detroit, the son of Charles and Constance (Jennings) Gatecliff.
On May 16, 1964, in Dundee, MI, he married Patricia Ann Wisnieski and she survives.
George received his Bachelor's degree in 1964, Master's degree in 1965, and PhD in 1969 in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. George had been employed with Tecumseh Products for 42 years as the Chief Research Engineer and the Director of Research. He was a member of St. Mary's on the Lake Catholic Church in Manitou Beach. He was an avid U of M football fan, loved boating and the lake, home construction, and his 1957 Thunderbird. He loved spending time with his family and loved his wife, Pat unconditionally.
In addition to his wife, Pat, George is survived by his daughter, Christine (Curt) Arnold of Brentwood, TN and their children, Jennifer, Lexi, and Jack; his son, Charles (Kelli) Gatecliff of Ann Arbor, MI and their children, Gillian and George; and sister, Mary Feldott of Georgetown, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
