  Wisconsin State Journal (Madison, WI) January 11, 2004 RENO, NEV./ MADSION - John R. Schuon, age 61, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Born in Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1942, John served in the U.S. Army and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Wallner, while stationed in Germany. Last year they celebrated 40 special years of marriage. After returning from Germany, John earned degrees from Ferris State University and Western Michigan University. John spent his entire career in the printing field and along with his wife, purchased a commercial printing business in Port Angeles, Wash. Following six great years, John and his family moved to Reno, where he became director of printing services for the University of Nevada at Reno. After their children had grown, John and Betty moved to Madison, where John was appointed director of printing services for the University of Wisconsin Extension at Madison. John played an active role in various printing professional clubs and organizations. He served as president of both the Reno and Madison Craftsmen clubs and was introduced to Kiwanis by his father, the late Tom Schuon. John enjoyed the company and community service, taking many leadership roles. He returned to Reno in 1998 to welcome the birth of his first grandchild and upon his return, John spent two years as printing services supervisor at Washoe Medical Center. In July 2003, John and his family purchased Gemini Cosmetics, a wholesale beauty supply business located in Sparks, Nev. John is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Andy; daughter, Martha Manha; daughter-in-law, Amanda Schuon; son-in-law, Anthony Manha; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sarah Manha; his very special sisters, Nancy Krieger and Sue Schuon of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom; mother, Betty; and brother, Tom. John was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
