  Batavia Daily News February 1, 1924 Corfu, Feb. 1.- C. Edward Higgins, aged 29 years, who lived on a small farm west of Corfu owned by his father-in-law, Elmer Haskell, took his life yesterday afternoon, about 5 :US o'clock, by shooting himself through the heart with a shotgun. He and his brother, Roy Rossman, who Iives in the east rooms of Orner Griswold's house on West Main street, went hunting yesterday afternoon and, coming home, Mr. Higgins went into the house and spoke to his 21year old son Elmer and his wife. He then went out to the barn. In A few minutes a shot was heard. Lottie McCowen, who lives on the larger Haskell farm adjoining and who helps Mrs. Higgins, found the body on the main floor of the barn. Dr. Pomery was called. Death had been instantaneous. Mr. Higgins was born in Le Roy, June 23, 1895. In January, 1918, he married Miss Emily Haskell of Corfu. They lived in Batavia before coming to Corfu. His mother, Mrs. Roy Rossman of Batavia, and a sister, Mrs. Donald T. Van De Vort of Caledonia, survive him, besides his wife and son Elmer.
